Choosing paint colors for kitchens can at first seem as though it is going to be a terribly daunting task, but no, don’t worry it is lots of fun. Just imagine how you’re going to feel once your kitchen is painted and you can sit back and just stare at the wonderful colorful glory of it all. I mean, come on, who doesn’t love a freshly painted room, especially a kitchen? Okay, maybe you men out there don’t, but hey you’re probably not the one searching for this information anyway. Okay, now ladies and perhaps gents, let’s talk for a moment about your own unique individual tastes and personalities. What do you think of when you imagine your dream kitchen? Do you see rolling hills of lavender bushes? What about grey skies full of clouds? Better still, what about a bowl of apples and oranges or limes and bananas? Hey, we’re all different and the point is that you have to really picture yourself in your kitchen as if it were already painted.
Where do you want to be standing? This is what you have to think about when you are trying to decide upon paint colors for kitchens. Many people go with the standard pale yellow, that’s fine but we want you to know that you do have other choices. Take a look at some of the images on this site. They are different, they are fun. What do you love? Do you already have decor such as kitchen wall hangings and pictures picked out? If you do, that is a great start. Put all of your kitchen decorations together and look at the theme of it all. Is it neutrals, reds, blues? What stands out and jumps in your face? What makes you feel calm and warm and fuzzy all over?
Think about all of these things as you try to narrow down your paint colors for kitchens. It doesn’t have to be difficult, but you have to start somewhere. Just pick a color and most importantly be happy with it, stick with your decision and get to painting already! You can look through design books and magazines as well for more ideas if you are really stuck. Pictures of kitchens is what I really find most helpful when I am trying to come up with new design ideas for clients. Ultimately it comes down to the personal taste of the individual but sometimes we all need a little help. Sometimes we find out that we never knew we even liked a particular thing at all. Go figure, so try new things. Go get a few paint samples from your local paint store, some swatches, whatever. Stick them up on your kitchen wall and start narrowing down your choices, weeding out what you hate and finding what you absolutely love. Hey, who knows it could be asparagus soup or tangerine mellow, doesn’t matter as long as it makes you happy! Oh, and don’t forget about your spouse and/or children……or do they even get a say so in this matter?
